Important Information for Presenters

Dear SALTISE 2023 presenters, here are a few details and recommendations that we believe will help make your sessions flow smoothly:

Talks are part of a 75-minute session that consists of 3 talks (exceptionally 2). As such, each Talk will be allocated 20-23 minutes maximum (for the presentation and Q&A). Also note that each Talk Session has a Session Chair to start the session, introduce the speakers, and generally keep track of time. How your Session chooses to use these 75 minutes is up to you, as a collective. However, here is a recommended time allocation:

  • Session Chair – introduces the 3 Talks (3-5 mins).
  • Talks – each assigned 20 minutes (total 60 mins)
    • Possible allocation: 15 minutes for the presentation, 5 minutes for Q&A
  • General Q&A – Moderated by the Session Chair (~10 mins)

For the exact time and location of your Talk Session please consult the Conference Schedule.

A symposium consists of a 75-minute session during which you will give your presentation. How you choose to use these 75 minutes is up to you as presenters. However, here is a recommended time allocation:

  • Introduction – 3-5 mins
  • Presentation – Possible allocation: 60 minutes
  • Q&A – 10 mins

Please note: Symposiums do not typically have a Chair. This will require that you select someone from your team to start the session, introduce the speakers, and be the main contact person in case you need assistance from the organizers. Send us the name of the team member who’s going to be the contact person with the Conference organizers by 12 PM on Monday, June 5th. This person needs to be comfortable with sharing their phone number since we’ll set up WhatsApp groups for easy and fast communication with the organizers in case you need assistance. If you’re presenting your symposium alone and do not wish to be the contact person and would like SALTISE to find a Chair for you, please let us know.

For the exact time and location of your Symposium, please consult the Conference Schedule.

Mini-Workshops and Demonstration/Performance consist of a 75-minute session.

Round Tables are part of a 75-minute session that consists of 3 presentations within the same room. Each Round Table will have 75 min for the presentation and Q&A. How each Round Table chooses to use these 75 minutes is up to you as presenters, but keep in mind that the participants may move from table to table so presenters will need to be sensitive to how they use the time if the participants move around.

Also note that we have assigned you a Session Chair who will start the session, introduce the speakers, and generally keep track of time.
