ECT Winter 2025: Generative AI Prompt Crafting for College Teachers
This workshop will focus on a key component of AI literacy: prompt crafting. Whether you are committed to supporting learning apart from Gen AI or are exploring ways to integrate AI into your classroom, this workshop has something for you. You will gain a deeper understanding of the types of outputs Gen AI can generate, develop a skill to assess how easily AI can respond to your assignments, and discover how to use AI effectively to develop learning activities and assessments. Finally, you will experience firsthand how the skill of prompt-crafting, when taught to students, can help develop their transversal competencies (e.g., communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and creativity). In this workshop we will define gen AI & AI literacy, learn effective prompting techniques, and practice creating, refining, and evaluating prompts.
Objectives:
- Define generative AI and AI literacy
- Recognize effective prompting techniques
- Create and refine prompts to optimize output
- Evaluate Gen AI outputs critically
