Early Career Teacher Sessions - Integrative Assessments

October 23, 2024 | 12:30 - 1:45 PM Virtual

In this session, the focus is on Integrative Assessments (or as we call them at Vanier, LIAs). We will be joined by guest teachers who will discuss sample LIAs in their programs and take us through the scaffolding process to prepare students for these major assessments. We’ll also look at the way we evaluate LIAs, including resources for grading rubrics and language proficiency.

Open to: Aimed at early career teachers (teachers in their first five years of cegep teaching) but open to all levels of experience, educational roles and institutions.

Presenter(s)

Marianne Lynch

Marianne Lynch

English, Vanier College, Montreal

Combining a lifelong passion for amateur sport with degrees in mathematics, literature, education and humanities, Marianne is a coach at heart. She began her career teaching high school math and science before moving to Vanier’s English department in 2005. Outside of her teaching duties at Vanier, she was curriculum coordinator of the department for seven years, provincial representative for English on the comite conseil, and a member of Academic Council.

Her experiences with team-teaching, peer observation, mentorship, and accompaniment led her to develop projects that encourage students to exchange with and learn from one another.

Currently, she is a faculty representative on CRT, representative of the English department on the General Education Committee (GEC), and works closely with the pedagogical office (PSI) on support of new and early-career teachers.

In her free time, you will find Marianne at the pool, on the soccer field, or writing the occasional sonnet.
