Less Imperfect Assignments in Computer Science

Teaching computer science is increasingly challenging as AI reshapes the landscape of the classroom and the job market. In this online show-and-tell session, we’ll focus on what’s working and what we can build on. We’re not chasing perfect solutions; we’re looking for activities and assignments that are less imperfect: the things teachers have tried that worked a bit better.  What activities felt less compromised by AI?  When did you feel more confident that your students had genuinely mastered a concept or skill?
In preparation, if you are able, please contribute an activity or assignment to the Computer Science Show-and-Tell Slide Deck. The slide deck is both a tool to help you tell your story and a shared resource to return to for ideas to borrow and build on.  If you don’t have anything to share, don’t worry – come and get some!
This session is the second in a series of SALTISE-led workshops for Computer Science teachers.  You can see some ideas from our first discussion on our Miro Board. All computer science and computer-science adjacent teachers and staff are welcome to attend, regardless of whether you were able to attend the first session.
This SALTISE-led workshop is free and open to all.
