Overview

This activity uses a simple matching game to encourage discussion and engagement amongst students as they set out to pair compounds with characteristics. Working in groups, the students match compounds with their name, solubility or oxidation state using a set of cards provided for each question.

Instructional Objectives

  • To better understand solubility and precipitation.
  • To know how to determine the oxidation state of a molecule’s components.
  • To be able discern between and correctly name similar compounds.
